Questions or requests may be directed to [email protected].
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Personal Information
We collect personal information you voluntarily provide, which may include:
Name and contact details (email address, mailing address, phone number)
Account credentials (username and password)
Course or program enrollment information
Donation records, including contribution amounts and dates
Written communications or inquiries submitted through the website or by email
We do not directly collect or store payment card data. Payment processing is handled by third-party processors subject to their own privacy and security standards.
2.2 Non-Personal and Usage Information
We automatically collect non-personal information when you use our website, including browser type, operating system, pages visited, time on page, and referring URL. This information is collected through cookies, web beacons, and analytics tools (described below) and may be aggregated with data from other users.
3. How We Use Your Information
We process personal information only as necessary and only where we have a lawful basis to do so. Our legal bases for processing include:
Contractual necessity — to process enrollments, manage course access, and fulfill program obligations
Legitimate interests — to improve our website and services, respond to inquiries, and communicate relevant organizational updates
Consent — to send newsletters and marketing communications; you may withdraw consent at any time
Legal obligation — to comply with applicable laws and regulations
You may opt out of non-essential communications at any time by emailing [email protected].
4. Donor Data
We collect and retain donor information — including name, contact details, and contribution records — to acknowledge donations, maintain accurate nonprofit records, and fulfill any applicable legal or reporting obligations. Donor information is not sold or shared with third parties except as necessary to process transactions or as required by law. We do not share donor lists with other organizations for marketing purposes. Donation records are retained for a minimum of seven (7) years in accordance with standard nonprofit recordkeeping practices.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to operate and improve our website. Cookies are small files stored on your device; web beacons are embedded images used to track interactions with web pages and emails. These tools may collect information such as session activity, page views, and email engagement.
We use these technologies for functionality (e.g., remembering login preferences), performance (e.g., analyzing site traffic), and marketing (e.g., delivering relevant content). Third-party services such as Google Analytics may also set cookies on our behalf.
Non-essential cookies — including analytics and marketing cookies — are only set with your prior consent, which we obtain through a cookie consent mechanism presented when you first visit our website. You may withdraw or adjust your cookie preferences at any time through the cookie settings available on our website. You can also disable cookies through your browser settings, though doing so may limit certain website functionality. For more information, visit www.aboutcookies.org.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website. Google Analytics collects information including your IP address and transmits it to Google servers in the United States. You may opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
6. International Data Transfers
The Foundation is based in the United States. If you access our website from outside the United States, your personal information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S. or other countries where our service providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction.
Where required by applicable law — including for transfers of personal data from the European Economic Area — we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms. By using our website, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred internationally in accordance with this policy.
7. Disclosure of Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose it only in the following circumstances:
To comply with applicable law or a valid legal process
To enforce or investigate violations of our Terms of Use
To protect the rights, property, or safety of the Foundation, its staff, or the public
To trusted third-party service providers who assist in operating our website or programs, under confidentiality obligations consistent with this policy
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
Correction — request that inaccurate or incomplete information be corrected
Deletion — request that your personal information be deleted, subject to legal retention obligations
Restriction or objection — restrict or object to certain processing of your information
Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format where technically feasible
Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting prior processing
EU/EEA residents have these rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to opt out of any sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected] with the subject line "Personal Information Request." We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (generally 30 days, with an extension of up to 60 additional days where permitted).
9. Webinars
By attending a Foundation webinar, you acknowledge that your voice and/or image may be recorded and that the Foundation may publish such recordings on its website and through other channels. If you do not wish to be recorded, please keep your camera and microphone off or contact us prior to the event.
10. Data Retention and Security
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Donation records are retained for a minimum of seven years. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.
We implement reasonable physical, electronic, and administrative safeguards to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted through or stored on our website.
11. Data Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected individuals and relevant authorities as required by applicable law, including Oregon's Consumer Information Protection Act (ORS 646A) and, where applicable, GDPR breach notification requirements. We will provide notice without undue delay and, where required, within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach.
12. Children's Privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 16. If we become aware of such collection, we will promptly delete the information. Please contact us at [email protected] if you believe we have collected information from a minor.
