You’ll gain hands-on experience producing and assessing biologically complete compost and liquid amendments while working in a small group with guidance from experienced mentors.

You’ll prepare starting materials, build compost piles, and monitor their development throughout the workshop. Because multiple piles will be built simultaneously, you’ll see how different recipes and management decisions influence the composting process during the critical first ten days—providing experience that could otherwise take months to gain independently.

You’ll also produce compost extracts, compost teas, protozoan infusions, and nematode extractions. Throughout the workshop, you’ll use microscopy to assess the biology in compost, liquid amendments, soil, and other preparations. This continual practice will strengthen your microscopy skills and help you connect what you observe under the microscope with what is happening in the compost pile and the field.

The Soil Food Web Foundation is honored to host this Accelerator Workshop in collaboration with the Isha Foundation and the Conscious Planet – Save Soil movement.

Participants will stay at the Isha Yoga Center, a renowned spiritual and ecological campus nestled at the foothills of the Velliangiri Mountains near Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. The Yoga Center provides a peaceful environment with comfortable accommodations, nourishing vegetarian meals, and beautifully maintained natural surroundings designed to support learning, reflection, and personal well-being throughout your stay. 

The workshop itself will take place at Sadhguru's Save Soil – Regenerative Revolution Farm. This living demonstration farm showcases regenerative agriculture and soil restoration as part of the global Conscious Planet – Save Soil initiative. Established by Sadhguru in 2007 as part of Isha's commitment to environmental restoration, the Regenerative Revolution Farm works to improve soil fertility while enhancing the economic well-being of farmers throughout Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Through holistic farming practices, research, and farmer-to-farmer education, the project is helping transform agriculture across the region.

Located approximately 3 km (2 miles) from the Isha Yoga Center, the farm will serve as our outdoor classroom for the Accelerator Workshop. Participants will spend each day building biologically complete compost, producing biological liquid amendments, practicing soil microscopy, and applying the Soil Food Web Approach in a real-world regenerative farming environment. Daily shuttle transportation will be provided between the Isha Yoga Center and the Save Soil Farm.

It is your sole responsibility to determine whether you require a visa to travel to India, including applying for an e-Visa, if applicable, at indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa. You are also responsible for ensuring that your passport is valid and permits you to enter and remain in India for the duration of the workshop. Every student is responsible for obtaining the travel and medical insurance they require or wish to have for the workshop.

Most international participants will need a valid passport and an approved Indian visa or e-Visa before traveling. For an e-Visa, your passport should generally have at least six months’ validity and two blank pages, and you may be asked to provide proof of onward or return travel and sufficient funds for your stay. Coimbatore International Airport is an approved entry point for e-Visa holders. Applications should normally be submitted through the official Indian government visa portal at least four days before arrival, and travelers must wait until their Electronic Travel Authorization has been granted before traveling. Requirements and the appropriate visa category may vary depending on nationality, so all participants should confirm their individual requirements before booking flights.

Your workshop tuition includes accommodation at the Isha Yoga Center from Sunday, October 18 - Saturday, October 31, 2026. 

Private single rooms are available for an additional $500 USD. We encourage participants to select shared accommodations, as they offer a more affordable option and provide an opportunity to connect with fellow students outside of class. 

If you prefer to stay off-site, there are several hotels and other accommodations available in the surrounding area. Participants who choose off-site lodging are responsible for making their own reservations and arranging daily transportation to and from the workshop. There are various accommodation options near the workshop site. Please see the “Accommodation” section of the Workshop Handbook.

Three vegetarian meals per day are included during your stay at the Isha Yoga Center. During registration, you will be asked to provide any dietary requirements or food allergies well in advance.

The Isha dining hall offers a variety of dishes at each meal, making it easy to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets. Please note that no meat, poultry, or seafood is served at the Isha Yoga Center.

Light refreshments, including tea, coffee, and snacks, will be available throughout the workshop day (Monday–Friday).

Yes. As a student attending the workshop, you will be assigned an instructor to work with you in a small group. Your instructor will work closely with you to review compost recipes and the trajectories of all of the piles that you will monitor. Your instructor will also answer questions throughout this two-week intensive workshop. In addition to working with your group, you will also have the opportunity to meet and work together with other students in larger groups. 

There will be many live Q&A sessions throughout the workshop to ensure all your questions are answered. We will also have a wrap-up session on the last day of the workshop to answer any remaining questions.

The workshop will be delivered by a highly experienced team of Instructors. The mentor line-up is subject to change.

No, attendees are not permitted to join the workshop late or leave early. As this is a two-week intensive, you must attend all 10 days and participate fully in all workshop activities. Weekend activities are optional. 

If you are unable to attend this entire workshop, it is better to wait until the next live workshop, when you're able to attend all ten days. Please fill out this form to let us know your location and date preferences for a future workshop.

Students who register for the workshop can cancel on or before Monday, September 7, 2026. After this date, no refund is available. All cancellations are subject to a $200 payment processing fee. This amount will be deducted from any eligible refund issued for cancellations made on or before the cutoff date.

Yes, you are welcome to join us for this workshop even if you have attended an in-person training with us previously.

The Soil Food Web Complete Practicum (SFW Practicum) is an advanced, mentored program designed for students who have completed the Foundation Courses and are ready to move from theory to hands-on practice. It’s science-grounded and built around real land, real challenges, and real goals, guiding students to read, build, feed, and work with living soil over a full growing season.

The Practicum is organized into four core modules:

1. Soil Microscopy – Build the skills to observe the life in your soil and assess biological health to guide every management decision.
2. BioComplete™ Compost Production – Learn to create compost that is alive and tailored to your soil’s specific needs.
3. Biological Liquid Amendments – Design and brew site-specific liquid amendments to introduce and multiply beneficial biology.
4. Field Trial – Apply your knowledge and techniques over a full growing season with mentor guidance, directly on your own land.

This workshop provides an alternative pathway through the Practicum by giving you hands-on experience, guided instruction, and practical tools that align with the Practicum’s objectives. By participating, you receive BioComplete™ Compost Production and Biological Liquid Amendments. Please note that to graduate Biological Liquid Amendments, Soil Microscopy needs to be completed before or after the Workshop.

The workshop offers an intensive, in-person learning pathway that covers the learning outcomes for BioComplete™ Compost Production and Biological Liquid Amendments.

Over 10 days, students work in small groups under the guidance of experienced mentors to build and monitor multiple compost piles. This allows students to observe how different recipes and management decisions influence compost development and to gain experience that could otherwise take months to develop independently. Students also produce and assess compost extracts, compost teas, protozoan infusions, and nematode extractions while strengthening their applied microscopy skills.

Students have the opportunity to satisfy the BioComplete™ Compost Production and Biological Liquid Amendments requirements through the workshop. However, participation alone does not guarantee completion. Students must meet all course learning outcomes presented through the workshop materials, along with any additional graduation requirements. Please review the Participation Agreement for complete details.

All attendees are given the opportunity to graduate BioComplete™ Compost Production, and Biological Liquid Amendments if they:

• Attend all 10 days of the workshop and fully participate in all activities.

• Successfully complete all 4 Foundation Courses and the Soil Microscopy Course.

• Complete the Pre-workshop Training Course & Assignment

• Complete the Post-workshop Graduation Assessment

The Prerequisites for entering Field Trial of the SFW Complete Practicum are listed in the Participation Agreement, and here: 

1. All students are required to make (at home) one compost pile with a minimum size of 200 gallons/760 liters that meets the minimum biological requirements as set in the Course Manual. Ensuring these standards are met helps provide a strong biological foundation for effective soil regeneration. 

2. Students will need to perform a Remote Assessment of their compost to demonstrate that it meets the minimum biological requirements for solid compost.

3. If a student has already built successful compost piles in the past, they may use one of those piles to satisfy this requirement, provided that it meets the current minimum biological standards.

4. All students will be required to pay the enrollment fee for the Field Trial course, if they have not already done so.

Yes, students are requested to bring their own microscope to the workshop. A small number of SFWF microscopes will be available to share if necessary. Since microscopy is a significant part of the learning experience, we strongly encourage students to bring their own microscope to get the most benefit from the workshop.
